The Boat
Our sailboat “Dragonfly” is a 37′ foot long, French built Jeanneau Sun Odyssey. Unlike most sailboats, this boat is designed for comfortable cruising, with a spacious open cockpit for seating, folding table, surround bluetooth stereo system that you can play from your phone, and full galley below. Keep your drinks cool in the fridge, no cooler necessary. The boat is equipped with glasses, plates, silverware, towels, floaties, blankets, an assortment of drinks and packaged snacks. Dragonfly is fully insured and certified every year to operate as a legal charter in the city of Chicago. We carry onboard all necessary safety equipment including USCG life jackets and your captain is first aid CPR certified.
The Crew
Captain Greg Scannell is a certified USCG Master Captain and sailing instructor. He is committed to providing you a great time, keeping you safe, and helping you create positive lasting memories. Together, Greg and Cait have sailed over 10,000 miles around the country through its waterways on the Great American Loop, sailed the Bahamas for two months on Dragonfly, and have captained luxury catamarans in the Caribbean.
Cait Scannell will join charters as her schedule permits as she runs a professional solo architecture practice. When she’s along she will often take the helm where she’s most comfortable. Cait bought Dragonfly in 2016 after taking lessons from Greg. At the time, she was the youngest female boat owner in the Chicago Harbors. She earned the nickname “Lady Dragonfly” from Monroe Harbor tender captains.
I have been teaching ballroom dancing for 16 years And I absolutely love it! I do socially group classes on the first Saturday of the month and a social line dancing/the night on the third Saturday of the month at Dance Dimensions in DeKalb. It is BYOB. The ballroom is extraordinarily beautiful, and I have fabulous place to practice your dancing, or learn how to dance. I am available for private lessons or wedding dances or pretty much anything you can think of. You can find me on fb face book under ballroom blitz. I also teach paint and sip nights. I do those once a month on Tuesdays at La Calle in Dekalb but I am also available for hire for bachelorette parties, job events, children’s birthday parties or any reason to celebrate with painting. I can actually come to you and provide everything you need to have an awesome and memorable painting party.

3 hour minimum per booking for a MAXIMUM of 12 guests.

Captain and crew are included Food drinks and refreshments are definitely encouraged. We provide a cooler and refrigerator onboard. We just want you to enjoy the experience. Our rules are simply safety first, don’t do harm to yourself others or the boat. Other than that you’re the boss.
Our Boat
Our 60 ft. Sea Ray is one of the most luxurious boats in Chicago with updated interior and top of the line sound system. For the night charters the yacht is equipped with color changing LED lights throughout the entire vessel. It is also equipped with a floating mat that rolls out on the water for you and your guests. This Yacht has more than enough space to accommodate 12 people + Captain and Crew.
I provide full bar service, including specialty drink design, alcohol ordering and support, and providing all equipment needed, such as a portable bar, ice, soda, mixers, garnish, cups, napkins etc
